NFL FORECASTER 5.0 FOR WINDOWS 95
NFL CALENDAR 1.0 FOR WINDOWS 95
INSTALLATION NOTES:
1. Installation Directory
2. Installation Files
3. Uninstalling
4. Registration
5. Limitations
6. Preferences and Windows Layout
7. Other Programs
1. INSTALLATION DIRECTORY
The setup program installs both NFL Forecaster
5.0 for Windows 95 and NFL Calendar 1.0 for
Windows 95 in the same directory; the two
programs share two files: schedule.nfl and
names.nfl. If you move either program to
another directory after installation (there is
no reason to do this), you must be sure that
there are copies of names.nfl and schedule.nfl
in both directories.
When asked for the directory to install the
programs to, you should use the default
directory (Program Files\Cotton\NFL) that is
offered to you, unless you have a VERY good
reason for not using it.
Do not install NFL Forecaster for Windows 95 in
the same directory as NFL Forecaster for
Windows or NFL Forecaster for DOS. Some of the
files installed by NFL Forecaster's setup
program have the same names as files used by
Forecaster for DOS and Forecaster for Windows.
The new versions will replace the older
versions -- something you probably don't want
to happen.
2. INSTALLATION FILES
The setup program places files only in the NFL
Forecaster directory, except for a single file,
UNINST.EXE, which may be placed in the Windows
directory. UNINST.EXE is used to uninstall NFL
Forecaster and NFL Calendar and programs by
other companies; therefore, it should not be
removed from your disk. The setup program
does not make any changes to the config.sys
or autoexec.bat files.
A minimum of four files must always be in the
Forecaster directory in order to run
NFL Forecaster:
NFL Forecaster.exe: Executable program file.
main-dta.nfl: Team rankings.
schedule.nfl: NFL schedule.
names.nfl: Team names.
Several other files are placed in the
Forecaster directory:
NFL Forecaster.hlp: On-line help file.
NFL Forecaster.cnt: On-line help table of contents.
NFL Calendar.exe: Executable program file.
NFL Calendar.hlp: On-line help file.
NFL Calendar.cnt: On-line table of contents.
week-xx.yy: One or more weekly archive files.
DEISLx.ISU: Log file used for uninstalling.
ReadMe.txt: Information file.
vendinfo.diz: Information file.
Products.txt: Information file.
file_id.diz: Identification file.
3. UNINSTALLING
The uninstall program removes NFL Forecaster
and NFL Calendar. It removes all files and
Registry entries that were installed by the
installation program (except for the
uninstallation program itself; see above). It
does not (cannot) remove files that were placed
in the Forecaster directory after installation.
The on-line help topic "Installing/Uninstalling
NFL Forecaster for Windows" contains step-by-
step instructions for removing NFL Forecaster
and NFL Calendar from your computer system.
If NFL Forecaster and/or NFL Calendar are
already installed on your computer and you want
to be sure that this version will uninstall
EVERYTHING, you should uninstall the other
versions of Forecaster and NFL Calendar before
installing this version (press the Cancel
button, uninstall the other versions and run
this install program again). You will, however,
lose your current preferences and windows
layout settings.
4. REGISTRATION
NFL Forecaster and NFL Calendar are copyrighted
shareware products; they are not freeware or
public domain software. You can try them before
you buy them and you are encouraged to give
copies to others. If you use them after 30
days, you must register them. For a complete
list of registration benefits and ordering
methods, read README.TXT at the end of
installation or see the topic "Why Register NFL
Forecaster" in the on-line help after
installation.
5. LIMITATIONS
The unregistered versions of NFL Forecaster for
Windows 95 and NFL Calendar for Windows 95 are
identical to the registered versions EXCEPT
that the functions for preparing for a new NFL
season (creating a new schedule, for example)
will not save data to disk. It's only fair that
you cannot use the unregistered versions of the
programs for more than one NFL season without
registering them. You can, however, use them
to see how they work.
6. PREFERENCES AND WINDOWS LAYOUT
If NFL Forecaster and/or NFL Calendar are
already installed on your computer, your
preferences and windows layout will be
preserved when you install this version;
they will not be "wiped out."
7. OTHER PROGRAMS
See the file "Products.txt" for information
about other 100% Cotton Software programs.
